It all started when …
It has been 20 years since I started to make “Washi”, but I have had plenty of experience previously as I had been working as a florist at my last employment. I have learned “Ikebana” from my mother when I was in high school, and after my high school studies had finished I further went on to learn flower design at my local flower shop, which I gained many necessary skills in the art of creating “Washi”. “Ikebana”… is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, This tradition dates back to 7th century. It is also commonly referred to as “Kado”.
The first original lamp that we created with dried flowers caught my eye as I was instantly attracted by the softness and the beauty, and that is why I started experimenting with different unique materials to create new lamps which will hopefully endure a larger audience. These materials include off dried flowers, fake flowers, felted fabric, beadwork, and “washi” … Now I’m in the process of making the beautiful shape without the light.
